Elizabeth Maloney

Elizabeth (Molly) Maloney graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 2016 with a BS in math and a BA in economics and computer science. She is in her 2nd year as an economics PhD student at UC Irvine, where she is interested in machine learning and applied microeconomics. Some of her past work includes research on the structural causes of youth unemployment in Pierce County, Washington; tax models for the Washington State Department of Revenue; and data visualization applications to display institutional data for Pacific Lutheran University. Recently, she has used statistical learning algorithms to classify cryptic species of soft shell coral that are indistinguishable by physical characteristics alone.
