Shima Nabiee is a third year PhD student in the Department of Electrical Engineering at UC Irvine. Broadly, Shima is interested in Deep Learning, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. She is especially interested in big data problems, high-dimensional learning of probabilistic graphical models and latent variable models.
Her previous research was focused on interpretable machine learning applied to information extraction and natural language processing on mathematical texts. Currently, she is working on the application of Deep Neural Networks to the analysis of survival data.
Prior to graduate school, she studied Electrical Engineering at Sharif University of Technology. Her undergraduate thesis focused on Scheduling Algorithms for 4G LTE Networks.
