Gabriel is currently a Postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Economics in UCI. Amongst his research interests are Machine Learning, High-Dimensional Econometrics and Tree based algorithms with applications to economic data for forecasting and causal analysis. Gabriel is also a big fan of R programming. He worked with several companies in Brazilian financial sector implementing this technology for forecasting macroeconomic variables, estimating funds capacity and more. Gabriel also has some experience with retail data from when he helped on the implementation of data science solution for a large retail company in Brazil.
Gabriel has a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and a masters degree in Economics from the Federal University of Juiz e Fora, both in Brazil.
